#308714* (?/5) ⚐Flag < Logos01> So say for example you run out of diskspace in /opt because that where the OS's database lives, and your database is farking huge.
< Logos01> You can, just as arusso mentioned, add a new physical disk to your machine, (assuming it has hotswap bays) -- and then add that as a new physical volume, then add that physical volume to your volume-group, then use the newly added space in your volgroup to expand your /opt logical volume mountpoint.
< ricankng787> Logos01: instead of moving it to a bigger drive..
< Logos01> All without ever turning off the services in question.
< ricankng787> You can just add it to volume group
< arusso> Logos01: or if it's a VM, just add a disk to the VM ;-)
< ricankng787> Logos01: fucking awesome
< Logos01> arusso: Well that counts as hotswapping in a new disk.
< arusso> NO NO NO NO
< arusso> YOU SAID HOT SWAPPING A PHYSICAL DISK!
< Logos01> The VM DOESN'T KNOW ITS NOT PHYSICAL!
< arusso> I DONT KNOW WHY WE'RE YELLING ANYMORE!
< Logos01> OM NOM NOM NOM ITS PHYSICAL!!!!!Comment: Freenode ##/r/sysadmin
