if you have js enabled globally, you're basically letting any site run "sandboxed" code on your machine.

if you have js enabled globally, you're basically letting any site run "sandboxed" code on your machine.

many sites abuse this, so some people have turned to disabling js by default, and either whitelisting it or not allowing it at all.

this makes some uis more klunky, but for these people it's a worthy tradeoff for not having random junk from literally hundreds of sources downloaded with every pageload.

this is all fine and dandy if the website is designed for no-js use.

some sites, however, don't bother adding this "handicap ramp" for their site, and just tell no-js users to enable it or hit the road.

(requiring javascript also makes a site less accessible to bots and other automatons.)

this may be the source of the tension you're feeling. i didn't think i would hit on a nerve starting this survey.

Javascript is how ad-tech tracks you all over the web… and it makes you foot the bill with your own CPU load / battery life. Fuck that.
